Policeman Shot Undercover Deputy After Mistaking him for Bad Guy

An undercover deputy was shot in the leg Thursday November 21 in northwest Houston when the police mistook him for a criminal.

The incident took place when a cartel-connected attack squad killed a civilian informant who was posing as marijuana drug trafficker.

The deputy was following the truck, which was ran off the road by the cartel squad.  After the driver of the truck was shot and killed the attackers swarmed the police.  The undercover deputy was believed to be a suspect and shot in the process.

Javier Peña, head of the DEA’s Houston Division stated, “These type operations are often complex, extensive and risky.”

The name of the undercover deputy was not declared.
