Texas Doctor and Wife Accused of Health Care Fraud
A Texas Urologist and his wife are accused of violating a U.S. trade embargo with Iran have also been indicted on health care fraud.
Dr. Hossein Lahiji and Majmeh Vahid have been charged with health care fraud and conspiracy to commit health care fraud.
The two have been accused of having submitted false health care benefit claims since 2003.Lahiji reported treating as many as 117 patients a day, according to prosecutors.
In 2010 the two were charged in Oregan with secretly sending $1.8 million to a children’s charity in Iran.
Prosecutors say that the two charges are not related.
