Student Demands Apology for Wrongful Arrest
A student who was wrongfully arrested for last week’s shooting at Lone Star College is now demanding an apology.
Carlton Berry was charged with aggravated assault and jailed for one week before the charges against him were dropped.
Berry says he is a “good person” who attends school so that “[he] can have a better future.”
He was talking to the accused gunman in a campus hallway when a fight broke out between the shooter and one of the victims. Berry does not know how the fight started, but he fully denies his involvement.
The DA’s office announced on Monday that all charges against Berry would be dropped because of insufficient evidence. He wants an apology from Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia, who was quoted as saying, “I hope he gets what he deserves.”
Three people, including Berry, sustained injuries from the shooting.
