Rapper Fat Joe Pleads Guilty to Tax Fraud
Platinum-selling hip hop musician Fat Joe pleaded guilty on Thursday to tax fraud allegations.
The rapper, whose actual name is Joseph Cartagena, did not pay federal income taxes on the $3 million he earned over the course of two years. His defense lawyer said that his client is making efforts to repay his tax debt and hopes to complete payments by the time of his sentencing in April of next year.
A federal judge allowed Cartagena to go free after he posted the $250,000 bail. He may face up to two years in prison and a maximum fine of $200,000.
