Men Accused of Stealing From Recovery Programs
Two men from east Texas are accused of filing false invoices for governmental assistance after Hurricane Rita in 2005.
Tony Lynn Thornton Sr. and Anthony Welborn Jones of Kountze, a city in the Beaumont-Port Arthur metropolitan area, were indicted for attempting to steal funds from government recovery programs. Thornton’s attorney insists that his client is innocent and had no intentions to defraud the government. He has been released from jail on his own recognizance.
