Boy, 12, Dies From Dehydration, Stepmom Charged
The twin brother of a 12-year-old boy who died in July 2011 from dehydration took the stand on Thursday and testified against his stepmother.
Tina Marie Alberson, 44, is charged with felony injury to a child. If convicted, she may be penalized with life in prison.
According to the boy’s brother, the victim fainted at Alberson’s south Dallas home after being deprived of water for days by his stepmother. The defendant allegedly kept water from the victim as punishment for wetting the bed. The boy’s twin had made attempts to sneak some water to his brother, but he was stopped by Alberson.
It is being reported that the home of the defendant and her husband did not have a functioning air conditioning unit. The boys’ father, Michael James, faces similar charges as Alberson. His trial will take place next month.
